Learn Website Mistakes That Are Costing You Money– Plus How To Fix Them
I get a lot of salon owners who write in and ask me what they should be doing with their website.
My answer is usually, its not what you have, its what you DON’T have that’s costing you money.
I thought I would share the most common mistakes I see salon websites making.
The Key Mistakes A Website Makes
Most websites include information about how awesome they are and brief snippets about the services they offer. A visitor doesn’t care about what you think of yourself, and most won’t understand the services you offer without a little explanation.
Your potential client has a problem that needs to be solved. It likely isn’t finding a salon with “10 years experience” or “the best styles in town.” Their problem is very specific and based on past experiences.
The whole reason they’re on your website is because they think you could have a solution.
Their curiosity won’t last if you ignore their issues.
Grab the visitor’s attention by offering a solution to their problem. Acknowledge their problem and assure them you aren’t like other salons. Once you get their attention, you can get them to book an appointment.
2 Steps That Turn A Visitor Into A Client

1) Offer a coupon.
2) Ask for their email to get the coupon.
Lets say Sally’s old stylist completely torched her hair. It was damaged for weeks and it cost her a lot of money in products to get it back to a state she could live with.
Her hair is finally back to normal and she’d like to find a new salon to get it done. Her past experience wasn’t a good one, but she has reluctantly found her way to another salon’s website. Its your website!
She could find a couple different things when she gets to the homepage.
1) “We have 10 years experience and have the ability to create any trendy hair style you want because we are so awesome.”
2) “All of our services are 100% guaranteed. If you aren’t satisfied, we’ll fix it, and you don’t have to pay.”
Based on Sally’s past experience, which do you think she is going to pick?
If you said #2, you’re right. She found a salon that understood her problem and assured her they could solve it.
